No longer a rambler!
|
|
Here is yet another 60's Seattle brick rambler!
This one in Laurelhurst with a great view of Lake Washington, but probably
the most nondescript house on the block. The new work provides a large
2nd story addition (housing a master suite at the front of the house where
the view is best, with two other bedrooms in back) and remodeled kitchen.
The main floor has been opened-up, combining kitchen with new family room
which expands outback to a deck and garden patio. Spaces throughout the
house have been designed to provide a stronger connection to outside views
and/or gardens. The existing brick exterior of the rambler has been retained
to serve as a masonry 'base' for the new enlarged house, but we have introduced
a new palette of Northwest style materials in a refined manner of detailing,
transforming the house into a very different architectural vocabulary. |
