| The interior of this 20's era home was very chopped-up, dark and cramped
and it's owners overwhelmed by it's severe lack of storage. They wanted
a modern, organized home that would be more open, creating a spacious flow
for their constant entertaining of their extended family.
The design incorporates subtle hints of traditional detailing
to render an otherwise contemporary interior compatable within the tudor-style
house: period trim, crown mouldings, the 1/2 wall and columns feature screening
kitchen from living spaces.
The master bedroom and bath are intentionally minimalist so as to impart
a contemporary Japanese feel. The color palate is restrained and neutral,
allowing luxurious natural materials and textures to take center stage.
To walk into this unassuming house from the outside now is to enter
another world: a sumptuous urban retreat where calm, serenity and order
prevail. |
